Community Conversations: Opportunity & Justice
“Community Conversations: Opportunity and Justice” is a participatory experience where key stakeholders, community, experts and students can share space to harness understanding on issues affecting young adults 18-24. It will be a space of deep learning and reflecting on the issue. We hope your participation will contribute to the larger plan ahead of us and support Long Beach becoming the urban city model American young people deserve.
"Whole Village” is a collaboration between Long Beach 9th District Councilmember Rex Richardson and Long Beach Unified School District Board Member Megan Kerr. Thirty-two key Long Beach stakeholders, clergy, community organizations and local experts have been appointed commissions that are responsible for assessing opportunities and challenges that students and families encounter in the 9th District focusing on four main areas:
1 Mentoring Opportunities
2 College Readiness
3 After-school Programs
4 Jobs and Internships
Outcomes of this process will be shared at "Community Conversations: Opportunity and Justice."
We will be joined by a number of special guests, including:
Mayor Robert Garcia
City Prosecutor Doug Haubert
Special Advisor to the Assistant US Attorney General Brent Cohen
LBUSD Board Member Megan Kerr, and more!I hope you can join us. Please RSVP below.
