The 8th Annual Uptown Jazz Festival will be returning to Houghton Park on Saturday, July 6th, from 12:00-7:00 PM! Headlining the show for 2019 is Con Funk Shun and DW3. The full line-up will be announced in early June. This year, I am proud to partner with Council District 1 Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez and Council District 2 Councilwoman Jeannine Pearce, bridging Uptown and Downtown for an incredible free summer concert for everyone.
Con Funk Shun delivers a superb, high-energy show with electrifying choreography, glistening six-part vocal harmonies, and a dash of humor. They are known as being among the heroes of funk with romantic ballads and dance-party hits galore with 20 hit singles through the years. Festival favorite DW3 is Southern California’s premiere R&B, funk, and contemporary urban jazz powerhouse, and always gives the crowd an upbeat show
As always, the Long Beach community and friends are invited to come and enjoy music, food trucks, vendor booths, a Kids’ Zone, and more. This is a free community concert, but there are a few rules to follow:
– Feel free to bring your own low back lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets.
– No canopies or tents allowed.
– Do not bring alcohol. There is a beer and wine garden available for consumption within the boundaries.
– No smoking allowed.
Public transit or ride sharing is encouraged as parking is offsite and limited.
The 2019 Uptown Jazz Festival is presented by Councilmember Richardson in partnership with Councilwoman Gonzalez and Councilwoman Pearce, and sponsored by Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, Long Beach City College Trustee Uduak-Joe Ntuk, Marathon Petroleum Corporation, the Port of Long Beach, Long Beach Transit, and Republic Services.
